Ah, apparently I wasn’t smart enough to connect the dots before reading this article. I was confused why gold was rising on expectations of a rate cut: wouldn’t a rate cut imply stocks rising? Then why are people putting their money in gold?
But it’s not stocks that’s being sold for gold, it’s dollars. Which makes much more sense.
