Are there any "hackable" smart watches with (e)SIM available? I would love to have such a toy as standalone device with internet access. All I've seen so far have only BLE.
I do like the pinetime, but it really is just a little too limited IMHO. Just a little more RAM would make it so much easier to work with. High hopes for the pro model.

Nice job mainlining the micropython:)

You should port it to the Watchy, too - the only actual e-paper smartwatch I ever wanted to have

Have one at home, maybe now it's time to dig it up again :)
What’s a watch to do things like this that might not have this many hoops to jump through?
The new Pebbles, probably. They have very nice hardware, long battery life with always-on screen, open software, and an active developer community.

Not the same target groups though, Pebbles is C and JS, whereas Pine64 is C++ and MicroPython.
Would love to see wifi support

I moved from PineTime to https://banglejs.com/ Price about the same but the tools IMHO was easier.

« An Apple Watch costs around $700 » : such a blatant lie in the first paragraph. Stopped reading.
if you get the Ultra version it's around £700 so checks out. Used Currys.co.uk
